For decades, artists have been the first to create and the last to be paid. Our rights have been split, sold, or forgotten — locked in outdated systems, trapped in contracts we did not write. The cultural economy feeds on our work but rarely returns its value.
No stakeholder — no label, platform, agency or society — has succeeded in protecting us at scale. Because they were never built for us. But we have the tools now. We have the technology. We have each other.

A Win with
Impact
Upon receiving the Best New Artist award, Roan used her acceptance speech to advocate for systemic changes in the music industry. She called on record labels to provide livable wages and healthcare for developing artists, sharing her personal experiences of financial hardship after being dropped by a label at a young age.
